Facebook Messenger Payments Coming To India Soon
Facebook has now launched a PayPal-like money transfer service on its Messenger app that would allow its users to send and request money using the app. This would also allow the users to make and receive payments in a much more transactional way than communicating via plain and boring emails.
As reported by CNET, the service is already available in the U.S. and would be rolled out to other regions soon. In order to get started on the Facebook Messenger app for transferring money, all you need is to add your debit card in your profile on the Messenger app, and you’re good to go.
It is also reported that Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, wanted to become a part of the mobile payment industry. He wanted to make the business interactions a bit more transactional when it comes to payments.
“On payments, the basic strategy that we have is to make it – especially in products like Messenger where the business interaction may be a bit more transactional – to take all the friction out of making the transactions that you need,” he posted.
Messenger Payments Are Free And Secure
Just like all other Facebook products, making payments via the Facebook messenger is totally free and you won’t incur any charges like commission, transaction fees, etc.
The payments are secured by PIN and “industry-leading security”.
In order to setup the Messenger app for payments, you need to add your debit card using the following steps:
- On Android– Tap on “Profile”, and then scroll down to “Payments” and tap on “Add New Debit Card”.
- On iOS– Touch “Settings’ and then tap on “Payments”. Now touch on “Add New Debit Card”.
The best part about this service is that it allows you to chat with a person to whom you want to transfer or receive the money from.
It’s Super-easy To Transfer The Money
To send money using the app, you first need to tap on “Payments”, and then on the “Next” button for bypassing the information screen, to arrive at the “Pay” section. Now enter the amount you want to transfer and add a note about what the payment is for and tap on “Pay”. You’re done.
To request money, tap on “Request” at the top of the screen, enter the amount you need and the reason, tap on “Request” again to complete the process.
This is one of the easiest ways to transfer money and that too using an app that you already have in your smartphone. All you need is a debit card and you can send money to anyone in the world.
